An aircraft carrying the US defense secretary was required to make an unplanned landing in the United Kingdom on Wednesday following a fracture was discovered in the aircraft's cockpit window, as stated by an announcement which confirmed that Hegseth was safe.
"The plane landed based on standard procedures and all passengers, including Defense Secretary Hegseth, is safe," a spokesperson commented in a online announcement.
Hegseth was returning from a short visit to the Belgian capital when the incident occurred.
This event does not mark the first occasion that a US military aircraft carrying a senior official has experienced equipment failures.
In a previous incident this year, a United States Air Force aircraft carrying Secretary of State Marco Rubio to Munich was forced to turn back to the US capital after suffering a mechanical fault.
