Well beyond 14 days after the tragic deaths of esteemed film director Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues persist in remembering the pair.
Writing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, explained he just recently felt prepared to post publicly about his deep grief.
"Enough time has passed that I can finally put my grief into words," shared Elwes, noting that his first meeting with Reiner made him fall in love. "When we commenced sharing more moments together I understood this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor uploaded never-before-seen clips from the film, remarking that he doesn't recollect "any day without joy".
"The film is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Values that Rob cherished deeply. This is one of the many reasons he was the best person to guide it," Elwes wrote.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, stating: "Claiming that they were a incredible duo would be an understatement. My heart still pangs every time I recall you." He concluded with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
In a distinct piece, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved being with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the main character.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked beautifully with his co-stars, and he comprehended the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese added.
Recently, a Los Angeles court official decided to bar the release of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, following a petition from the local authorities.
A legal directive put a restriction on the cases to prohibit the public release of "any investigative information, documents, files or images" pertaining to the probe.
The coroner's office had earlier stated their deaths were the consequence of homicide, with a official listing listing the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
Following the killings, public figures expressed divergent responses.
Ex-President Donald Trump commented on the matter, providing divisive claims that were widely condemned by numerous commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his criticism to the critics recently. Speaking on his program, Rogan characterized the statements as "shocking" and remarked they showed a troubling deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan concluded by remarking that an adviser should have intervened when the impulse to weigh in on the passing was made.
