The relatives of teenagers missing after a devastating fire at a venue in a Swiss winter destination are facing an excruciating wait for answers and pleading for any details about their loved ones via social media.

The fire ripped through the Le Constellation bar in Cans-Montana, located in the Swiss Alps of south-west Switzerland, in the early hours of the first day of the year. Confirmed footage show the roof structure being engulfed in flames as bottles with sparklers are held aloft.

Authorities have stated that it could take an extended period to identify the fatalities of the fire, which resulted in the death of four dozen individuals and injured another 119. Officials said on the latest update that the majority of the those hurt have been accounted for, with work continuing to identify the final individuals.

In the waiting period, families and friends have been taking to social media to appeal for any news about their friends who were in attendance that evening.

Appeals for the Unaccounted For

The fate of Swiss national Arthur Brodard, sixteen, are not yet determined, according to an public plea from his family.

Giovanni Tamburi, sixteen, is also unaccounted for. His mother explained that he had been on holiday but had gone out with friends and found himself at the bar.

"A companion told me they escaped after the fire erupted and that he had his phone with him, but then at a certain point he couldn't see him anymore," she recounted, adding he had been wearing a distinctive piece of jewelry.

One of his educators said, "He was known for his kindness and positive demeanor, alongside great maturity. He would frequently offer to help out."

Alice Kallergis, who holds dual Greek and Swiss citizenship but lives full-time in Switzerland, was also at the bar on that night, according to media.

Her brother has shared an appeal on social media, saying the family has had "no information" regarding the teenager or the group she was with, who are also reported missing.

Officials from her country of origin say they are actively engaged with the situation.
